Student Exchange


One of the primary features of the student exchange program is the credit course. The number of units that the exchange student will take will depend on the agreement between Mapúa and the host university per semester/quarter.


Application Process

Step 1: The applicant shall submit the initial requirements for nomination process to [email protected]

Step 2: OICEP shall evaluate all applications and send the nominations/initial qualifiers to the Host-University.

Step 3: Initial qualifier shall fulfill the final requirements for submission to the Host-University.

Step 4: OICEP shall notify accepted applicant/final qualifier via email and guide on the succeeding process

Step 5: Final qualifier shall seek approval from the Dean/Program Chair for the courses to be enrolled (for credit) at the Host University through the Learning Agreement form.

Step 6: Final qualifier shall fulfill the requirements for visa application. OICEP shall assist the final qualifier in the visa application and other travel arrangements.

Step 7: Final qualifier shall fulfill the OICEP pre-departure requirements and attend the pre-departure orientation.

FINAL REQUIREMENTS

    The study abroad program usually lasts for four (4) to five (5) months.

Joint Program


Mapúa offers joint programs with its partner universities abroad. This involves a student taking a degree in two phases: first at the home university for a specified period and then at the host university for another period. At the end of the program, depending on the agreement with the partner university, the student will be conferred with degree(s) from both universities.

International Summer Program


Renewable Energy Innovation and Leadership Experience

In the summer, inbound exchange students flock to Mapúa to join in its renewable energy innovation and leadership experience. This school at the undergraduate level has a goal of exposing students to the Filipino culture and history. Activities during the summer school include cultural and historical visits in Manila’s tourist spots and nearby provinces, industry and plant visits, adventure trips, and immersion with locals.

International Plant Visit


International plant visits are part of the lnstitute's curriculum to provide students with relevant academic experiences in the field. Several plants in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand are a regular go-to of Mapuans for their international plant visits. These visits aim to match the theoretical knowledge learned inside the classroom with the actual production systems and business processing of plants. Aside from these, the Institute aims to let the students appreciate their chosen fields and show them global best practices. Mapua has since sent 1,428 students for international plant visits.

International On-The-Job Training


International on-the-job trainings are part of Mapua's long-term initiatives to ensure students' professional readiness and competitiveness. This program gives students additional knowledge on their future professions as well as the environment and working culture abroad. Students who have had their OJT abroad have an edge over those who have not With their international exposure, these students have a global outlook and have a higher chance of being employed - locally and internationally. Mapua has since sent 226 students for international OJTs particularly in China, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, USA, and Vietnam.


Application Process

Step 1: The applicant shall submit the initial requirements for nomination process to [email protected]

Step 2: OICEP shall evaluate all applications and send the nominations/initial qualifiers to the Host-University.

Step 3: Initial qualifier shall fulfill the final requirements for submission to the Host-University.

Step 4: The Host-Company shall notify OICEP through email at least five (5) school days prior to the date of the interview the names of student-applicants who are shortlisted, including the date, time, and mode for the said interview.

Step 5: The Host-Company shall select among the list of qualifiers, the student-trainees who will undergo the iOJT. The Host-Company shall have the absolute discretion in the final selection of the final qualifiers and shall then notify OICEP though email the list of names.

Step 6: OICEP shall notify accepted applicant/final qualifier via email and guide on the succeeding process

Step 7: Final qualifier shall fulfill the requirements for visa application. OICEP shall assist the final qualifier in the visa application and other travel arrangements.

Step 8: OICEP shall collect and pre-assess the CHED requirements of the final qualifier for CHED endorsement application. OICEP shall submit the complete requirements to CHED.

Step 9: OICEP shall process the necessary travel document(s) of the final qualifier at the Bureau of Immigration.

Step 10: Final qualifier shall fulfill the OICEP pre-departure requirements and attend the pre-departure orientation.

Student Global Experience


Virtual International Internship Program (Vi2 P)
Online internship program with any international partner university or company.

Virtual Exchange Program (VEP)
Students enroll and take online courses at participating partner university.

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)
Students participate in courses under COIL as agreed by Mapua and the partner university.

Virtual Short Programs (VSP)
Students participate in any virtual short-term programs (similar to summer schools) offered by partner universities.

Virtual International Scientific Conference (VISC)
Are events organized by associations or groups of independent researchers under a scientific or technical committee wherein students participate either as attendee or presenter.

Virtual Research Enrichment Program (VREP)
Students participate in any virtual research enrichment programs offered by partner universities.

Virtual International Conference (VIC)
Are academic or non-academic conferences including webinars defined as either of the following:

  1. 0rganized by Mapua and partner university with International participants
  2. 0rganized by international groups or associations with international participants
  3. 0rganized by local groups or associations with international participants

Virtual International Academic Competitions (VIAC)
Students participate in any virtual international academic competition with approval from his respective Dean or Program Chair.
