One of the primary features of the student exchange program is the credit course. The number of units that the exchange student will take will depend on the agreement between Mapúa and the host university per semester/quarter.

Mapúa offers joint programs with its partner universities abroad. This involves a student taking a degree in two phases: first at the home university for a specified period and then at the host university for another period. At the end of the program, depending on the agreement with the partner university, the student will be conferred with degree(s) from both universities.

In the summer, inbound exchange students flock to Mapúa to join in its renewable energy innovation and leadership experience. This school at the undergraduate level has a goal of exposing students to the Filipino culture and history. Activities during the summer school include cultural and historical visits in Manila’s tourist spots and nearby provinces, industry and plant visits, adventure trips, and immersion with locals.

International plant visits are part of the lnstitute's curriculum to provide students with relevant academic experiences in the field. Several plants in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand are a regular go-to of Mapuans for their international plant visits. These visits aim to match the theoretical knowledge learned inside the classroom with the actual production systems and business processing of plants. Aside from these, the Institute aims to let the students appreciate their chosen fields and show them global best practices. Mapua has since sent 1,428 students for international plant visits.

International on-the-job trainings are part of Mapua's long-term initiatives to ensure students' professional readiness and competitiveness. This program gives students additional knowledge on their future professions as well as the environment and working culture abroad. Students who have had their OJT abroad have an edge over those who have not With their international exposure, these students have a global outlook and have a higher chance of being employed - locally and internationally. Mapua has since sent 226 students for international OJTs particularly in China, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, USA, and Vietnam.

Step 4: The Host-Company shall notify OICEP through email at least five (5) school days prior to the date of the interview the names of student-applicants who are shortlisted, including the date, time, and mode for the said interview.
Step 5: The Host-Company shall select among the list of qualifiers, the student-trainees who will undergo the iOJT. The Host-Company shall have the absolute discretion in the final selection of the final qualifiers and shall then notify OICEP though email the list of names.

Step 8: OICEP shall collect and pre-assess the CHED requirements of the final qualifier for CHED endorsement application. OICEP shall submit the complete requirements to CHED.
Step 9: OICEP shall process the necessary travel document(s) of the final qualifier at the Bureau of Immigration.
Step 10: Final qualifier shall fulfill the OICEP pre-departure requirements and attend the pre-departure orientation.
